Why your website gets visitors and no calls

Traffic is not the problem. Six things that stop a visitor from calling, in the order they cost you the most.

A site that gets visits and produces nothing is more common than a site nobody finds. The traffic arrives, the analytics look reasonable, and the phone does not ring. Usually the cause is not the design. It is that the page never asks for anything, or asks too late.

1. The visitor cannot tell what you do in three seconds

Headlines like "Quality you can trust since 1998" describe a feeling. A visitor is trying to answer one question: do you do the specific thing I need, in the town I am in? Put the service and the area in the first line of the page and the bounce rate changes on its own.

2. The phone number is not a link

Most visits are on a phone. If the number is text, or worse, part of an image, it cannot be tapped. Every extra step between wanting to call and calling costs you some percentage of those visitors.

3. There is one way to get in touch, and it is a contact form

Some people call, some text, some will only fill in a form, and a good share of local customers now prefer WhatsApp. Offering one channel means losing everyone who does not use it.

4. Nothing on the page proves anything

Claims are free, so visitors discount them. Reviews with names, photos of finished work, the towns you serve, a license number: those are checkable, and checkable is what builds enough trust to make a call.

People do not hire the best business. They hire the one they can find and verify quickly.

5. The page is slow on a phone on cellular data

Uncompressed photos straight from a camera are the usual cause. A hero image at four megabytes is a page that is blank for several seconds on a bad connection, and a blank page has no conversion rate.

6. The site does not say where you work

"Serving the local area" tells Google nothing and tells the visitor nothing. Naming the towns you cover is both an SEO signal and a direct answer to a question the visitor has.

What to fix first

In order: make the headline say the service and the place, make the phone number tappable, add a second contact channel, add real proof, then compress the images. Those five take a morning and change more than a redesign will.

If you would rather not touch it yourself, a Website Refresh is $449 and keeps your content while rebuilding the structure and speed around it.
